The Cove

The Cove

After a unbearably hot day in the office, and an equally hot East London curry, the Nice and Serious team settled down in my flat to watch the disturbing Eco-doc The Cove. This would be my second viewing of the film, being probably one of the few people to see it on the big screen during its disappointingly short-lived cinematic release, and despite it winning an Oscar in 2009 for Best Documentary, I felt it was my duty to warn Ben and Tom that this would not be an easy watch. A film which focuses on the covert slaughter of dolphins isn't exactly the thing to perk you up after a long day in the office! Nevertheless, with tea in hand, and a box of Kleenex at the ready, we bed ourselves in for 92 minutes of Japan-bashing.

Age of Stupid

Age of Stupid

I sat awkwardly in the cinema. I had convinced my girlfriend to attend one of the Age of Stupid premier(s) in Cambridge on the basis of a tip-off - that this film would be different from the others. By others, I mean the growing list of films produced with the intention of awakening the masses to the gruesome realities of climate change.
